- Route Precedence: How a router chooses its prefers
path. It is accomplished by comparing 3 attributes in
order:
- Route Specificity - the most specific route
- Administrative Distance
- Metric / Cost
- Load Balancing
- Specificity:
- This refers to how close to the destination the route may be.
- The chosen route will follow the one that directs closest to the
target host
- If there is a host in a subnet and the roue points to the subnet,
then it will chose the route within the subnet. There may be a route to
a bigger portion or scope of the network and it may route your data
correctly but it is not as specific as the route into the subnet,
